University of Victoria's Institute of Aging and Lifelong Health-Self-Management BC Programs

Self-Management is a key pillar of BC's Person and Family-Centered Care Philosophy. Self-Management BC Programs are evidence-based and peer-supported, delivered by trained volunteers who facilitate workshops, both virtually and in-person, teaching up to 13 core skills which support and improve the lives of people who experience chronic conditions, chronic pain, diabetes and/or cancer. Our programs also include health coaching and frailty coaching, offered by trained peers coaches using self management strategies to improve health problems, as well as online and self-study programs (remote/rural areas only). The purpose of these programs is to improve one's self-confidence to manage life in a more positive way.
