Jewels of HOPE is a social purpose project born out of a passion to help women move forward from their current situation. It provides context for equal purpose and revenue potential. Our vision for the women who participate in Jewels of HOPE is to provide a safe, low barrier and practical context for our women to learn artisanal skills, transition to sustainable employment and access educational opportunities. Additional courses and skills that build a resume are available in partnership with other agencies. We gather with women who live on our streets, in local shelters, and in affordable housing and we make bracelets together. Our women receive value for the work with Dignity Wages (honoraria gift certificate) per bracelet made. The jewelry is sold online, in local markets and in local businesses. All the revenue from the jewelry returns to the Okanagan to help further improve potentially at-risk women through outreach and time-proven programming. As a hand-up, not a hand-out, Jewels of HOPE exists to help women find hope in the darkest of places. It is a program of extending the opportunity to build confidence, skills and hope to our women.
